These Terms and Conditions govern use of Shadow Patterns at shadowpatterns.com and purchases of educational products or services from Cognirium Limited (“we”, “us” or “our”). Read the product description and any order-specific conditions before purchasing.

1. Educational services
Shadow Patterns provides educational material about trading, technical analysis and market-related topics. Depending on the offer purchased, this may include courses, books, digital resources or mentorship. The product description identifies what is included, the delivery format and any access period or scheduling conditions.
Our educational service does not include executing trades for you, holding your trading capital or managing an investment portfolio. Educational discussion is not a personal recommendation to buy, sell or hold a financial product. See the Full Disclaimer and Risk Disclosure for further information.
2. Eligibility and account security
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to create an account or purchase our services. Provide accurate information and use an email address you control. Email verification is required before a new account can be used.
You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for notifying us of suspected unauthorised access. Accounts and purchased access are for the named customer and must not be sold, shared or transferred without our written permission.
3. Orders and payment
Review the product, price, currency and any applicable taxes or charges shown before submitting payment. An automated receipt acknowledges receipt of your order; acceptance is confirmed when we expressly confirm acceptance or provide the purchased access.
If we cannot fulfil an order, we will notify you and return any amount collected for the unavailable item. We will seek your agreement before proceeding with a correction that changes the price or essential features. Your payment provider may apply its own currency-conversion or transaction charges.
4. Access, delivery and recurring offers
Access may depend on successful payment, email verification and the use of a compatible device, browser and internet connection. Review any specific technical requirements stated in the offer. Contact us if a paid product is unavailable or materially different from its description.
A one-time purchase does not create a recurring subscription. If an offer renews automatically, its price, billing frequency, renewal terms and cancellation method must be disclosed before purchase. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals in accordance with the agreed terms; it does not remove rights to remedies for an existing problem.
Mentorship schedules, duration, rescheduling and attendance arrangements are those disclosed for the particular offer. Do not assume that a course includes individual sessions, ongoing support or lifetime access unless these are expressly included.
5. Cancellations, refunds and consumer rights
Any additional commercial cancellation or refund offer stated before purchase forms part of your order. To report a delivery problem or request a cancellation or refund, contact Cognirium Limited with your order reference and a description of the issue.
Nothing in these terms excludes a mandatory right to cancel, receive conforming content or obtain another remedy under applicable consumer law. Accessing digital content does not automatically waive such rights. Where the law permits a withdrawal right to end on early supply, any necessary express consent and acknowledgement must be obtained separately before supply starts.
We will assess requests against the agreed order terms and applicable law. These terms do not impose a blanket “no refunds” rule. A disagreement over a payment does not remove your statutory rights or your ability to use your payment provider’s dispute process.
6. Intellectual property and permitted use
Unless an offer expressly provides otherwise, purchasing content grants a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use it for your own learning during the agreed access period. Intellectual property remains with Cognirium Limited or the relevant rights holder.
You must not redistribute, resell, publicly upload, reproduce for commercial use, share access credentials or circumvent access controls without permission, except where applicable law expressly permits the activity. Downloading is permitted only where the service provides that option.
7. Conduct and contributions
Do not use the service unlawfully, impersonate others, introduce harmful code, interfere with its operation, harass participants or post misleading promotions. If you submit material in a discussion or support request, you must have the right to share it. You retain ownership; you permit us to use it only as needed to operate the relevant feature and handle your request. Use in public marketing requires separate permission.
8. Service changes and suspension
We may make reasonable maintenance or security changes. Material changes to purchased services will be handled consistently with the agreed order and applicable law. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address fraud, serious misuse, a security threat or a material breach of these terms. Where practicable, we will explain the reason and give an opportunity to resolve the issue. Suspension does not automatically forfeit rights to a refund or other legal remedy.
9. Results and responsibility
We do not promise profits, a particular win rate, employment, professional accreditation or any other financial outcome. Trading decisions remain yours. Historical examples, simulated trades and testimonials do not establish what you will achieve.
We remain responsible for obligations and liabilities that applicable law does not allow us to exclude, including applicable consumer rights and liability for fraud. Subject to that law, we are not responsible for trading losses caused by your independent market decisions or third-party brokerage services merely because you accessed our educational material. This clause does not excuse our own breach of a legal duty.
10. Governing law, disputes and updates
These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, subject to any mandatory protections applicable to you as a consumer. The courts of Hong Kong have non-exclusive jurisdiction; this does not prevent you from bringing a claim in another forum available to you under mandatory law.
Please first describe any concern by emailing support@shadowpatterns.com or writing to Cognirium Limited at the address above, marked “Customer Support”. An attempt to resolve it informally is not a condition that removes your legal remedies. If a term is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply where legally possible.
Updated terms apply to future use and new purchases from their stated effective date. Changes will not retrospectively remove rights attached to an existing purchase. Where agreement to a change is legally required, we will request it.
